The dump also hosts The Furniture Project for reusable items for families that are in need.

The Furniture Project is a program that provides good used furniture, such as beds, dressers, table and chairs, to local households in need at no cost. The Furniture Project is managed by the Successful Living Program and sponsored by the Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center.
Perhaps you've recently purchased new furniture or are downsizing to a smaller home. The Furniture Project will see to it that your surplus is matched to a local household in need.
