GRID Alternatives is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower communities in need to meet their basic requirements of health, education, and economic opportunity by providing renewable energy and energy efficiency related services, equipment, and training.
GRID Alternatives works collaboratively with communities and local organizations to identify specific needs and to develop renewable energy solutions that are environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable. We believe that environmental stewardship, women's rights, and humanitarian protection are integral to these sustainable solutions.
Our vision of sustainable development centers on community involvement and our focus and expertise lies in using renewable energy (solar, wind, small hydro, bio-mass) to provide solutions to the challenges facing the rural and urban poor.
Services
GRID Alternatives provides energy efficiency and renewable energy and energy efficiency consulting services to communities in need. Communities are continuously being evaluated as potential recipients and participants in GRID Alternatives projects. If your community is interested in becoming a GRID Alternatives target community, please contact GRID

GRID Alternatives can provide the following energy efficiency and renewable energy related services:
Identification, analysis, design, and construction of renewable energy projects; including solar electric, solar thermal, wind, micro hydro, bio-mass, and geothermal.
Renewable resource assessment.
Sustainable development planning.
Feasibility studies.
Energy efficiency consulting.
Assistance in funding renewable energy, energy efficiency, or sustainable development projects.
